(E)JES - systems Management (SDSF)
(E)JES is an IBM Mainframe systems management
software solution that provides a single point of control for all of
your Job Entry Subsystem (JES) workloads, whether JES2, JES3, or
even a combined JESplex of varying JES workloads. Quite simply
(E)JES provides all of the functionality of the IBM equivalent
product, namely SDSF, but for both JES2 and JES3 workloads, while
providing many additional functions and benefits not included in
SDSF or functionally similar products, and all for a fraction of the price of SDSF!
Benefits
(E)JES
generates many benefits including usability, functionality, TCO
reduction, et al:
|
■ |
Reduced cost when compared with SDSF
(Typically ~65% reduction) |
|
■ |
Single centralised solution for managing
multiple JES2 and JES3 workloads |
|
■ |
Operational usability via improved
resource (E.g. Job, Device, Etc.) management |
|
■ |
User productivity via GUI & potential eradication of user's
TSO/E address space |
|
■ |
Flexible and granular security via (E)JES and SAF or
combined functions |
|
■ |
Resource efficiencies via exploitation of z9 Integrated
Information Processor (zIIP) |
|
■ |
Programmable (E.g. REXX, CLIST, ASM, Etc.) batch interface
for flexible processing |
Endorsements
(E)JES has numerous global customers
including a global JES3 endorsement from IBM:
|
■ |
(E)JES is the
only JES3 System Management utility endorsed and recommended
by
IBM for their
world-wide JES3 customer base |
|
■ |
Everything is
great! We have a JES2 test system and (E)JES is simply
GREAT! It beats the pants off of SDSF!!! |
|
■ |
I have (E)JES
running on four z/OS 1.6 systems in a SYSPLEX, with a
combination of JES2 and JES3 on the systems |
