Zero Cost (E)JES Management for zSeries RD&T Environments
In keeping with our support of
innovation and development, Phoenix Software International now
offers to their customers free use of (E)JES for their
Rational Development & Test (RD&T)
environments. RD&T is a low-cost zSeries environment that
helps companies save Mainframe resources when developing and
testing. The IBM Rational Development and Test Environment for
System z creates a personal z/OS Development and Unit Test
environment on each developers desktop or a shared server (E.g. 64
bit Intel compatible processors). Although RD&T incorporates
many IBM zSeries software products for low-cost development usage,
JES spool management or access is not incorporated, and so (E)JES
provides such functionality, with no cost.
(E)JES is Easy to Install
Our customers tell us they can get (E)JES installed in just a few
hours with the easy-to-use installation REXX exec. A
quick-start guide takes you through the process step by step.
(E)JES is Easy to Learn
(E)JES uses commands familiar to any SDSF and ISPF user. After
watching the

and viewing the easy-to-use on-line help system, users will know how
to use many of the powerful features not available in any other JES
management tool.
(E)JES Benefits - It Pays to Switch
(E)JESCAS Multisystem Client/Server Request/Response Model
stores data in local server's private area. Clients obtain
directly from local server using AR mode without server involvement.
Remote server exchange needed only if data is "old" and then only
changed bytes are sent. The result is dramatic CPU savings
with no observable delay.
(E)JES significantly exploits zIIP Processors. CPU
cycles consumed on zIIP don't count towards pricing by IBM WLC and
ISV's like
Phoenix Software International
that provide Sub-Capacity pricing. zIIP's are often
underutilized so there is less contention and processor delay.
zIIP's run full speed, typically faster than CP's on smaller,
Sub-Capacity System z models.
New JES2 customers pay only 1/3 the
price for (E)JES that they are currently paying for SDSF.
